Northwest Indiana Home Valuation

Home valuations are integral components of every home sale and every home purchase. Whether you are in the market to purchase a new family home, to sell your current home, to do both in tandem, or even to enter the real estate game, you need a home valuation that inspires confidence, and that’s what Allstate has to offer.

The Home of Your Dreams

Finding the home of your dreams is about much more than any one single component that contributes to its whole. When you engage in a sale or purchase of this magnitude, it is critical that you not only see the big picture but that you also carefully evaluate the attendant details.

Different Types of Dwellings

Not every home looks exactly like a child’s drawing of a house. In fact, homes come in many different forms, and the valuation process for each takes a somewhat different approach. Consider the following varieties:

  • Single-family houses
  • Multi-family houses
  • Apartments for purchase
  • Townhomes and condominiums
  • Modular and manufactured homes
  • Cabins, trailers, and cottages
  • Vacant land for building on

Whatever your home-purchase intentions are, you need a reliable valuation from a reputable source like Allstate Appraisal on your side.

Inside and Outside

Home valuations consider the building itself from the inside out, leaving no meaningful elements out of the picture. In the process, all of the following come into play:

  • The materials that make up the home’s exterior, including the roof, gutter system, windows and screens, doors, deck, porch, sidewalks, foundation, driveway, and garage (as applicable) – and the overall condition of each
  • The materials that make up the home’s interior, including the walls, ceilings, floors, fixtures and fittings – and the overall condition of each
  • How modern the kitchen is and its overall condition
  • The number of bathrooms, their modernity, and their overall condition
  • Whether there is a basement, whether it is full or partial, whether it is finished or not finished, and what kind of condition it is in
  • The square footage of the home

All of these things (and more) contribute to the home’s value and must be weighed in accordance with exacting but nuanced valuation norms.

The Property Itself

The property that the home is built on – or will be built on – is another critical component of the valuation process. The following are all important considerations:

  • The lot size of the property
  • The property’s zoning classification
  • The kind of neighborhood that the property is located in, such as whether the location is rural, suburban, or urban
  • The percentage of the neighborhood that is currently occupied or otherwise in use
  • Whether public utilities are on the lot (in preparation for building)
